Just because it’s the place everyone goes, doesn’t mean it’s the best

Not only does Neubaugasse seem to go on endlessly, it has also attracted so many little local, young and hip stores. In spite of this the international flair has not faded.

In order to get to know this street better to make your next shopping trip unique, I am going to present you with a few examples of what this street has to offer.

The long-standing hatter

Established in 1903, Mühlbauer has become one of the most popular choices in hatters throughout the last century. It all began with a small store in the Viennese district Floridsdorf, progressing to two stores in the city center. The brand is currently run by Klaus Mühlbauer-the fourth generation. In addition, Mühlbauer’s hats have gained international recognition, so much so that even Brad Pitt has been spotted wearing a hat by the Viennese label. While the clientele adore the high quality and the fact that they are handmade, they also appreciate the new designs of the hats. Traditional craftsmanship and the new upcoming styles go hand in hand with each other. The world full of hipsters of the seventh district meets long-established wisdom, thus bringing a wonderful mix to life.

A shop where you will find glasses for any personality- VIU

Clean, aesthetic and timeless design also in the Store of VIU

This is a statement that could only apply to the impressive flagship store of the glasses brand VIU. The store itself is also a highlight, because of the clear structures and colors combined with aesthetic furniture compositions. Their aim is to combine high quality materials with extraordinary fresh designs and make them appealing to their audience. The glasses feature clean structures, minimalism and strength. When a pair of VIU glasses is purchased, not only does it feel like a pair of spectacles has been purchased but also a feeling of being alive seems to pass into the case of the glasses as well.

The international touch

What do you think would happen, if 95 different Korean and Scandinavian designers were combined in one store? This is what happened when the label WE BANDITS was born. The shop owners pay great attention to offering select pieces, therefore ensuring the customer can only set their eyes on the best products available. An excellent address if you are looking to purchase something extraordinary and extravagant. The design and furniture of the shop reflect its fashion.

Vienna’s first real vintage store

Continuing along Neubaugasse you will find a small, cute shop, beware that the outside of the store may not reflect what the inside of the shop has to offer. It is called Purple Cave and you will find some real treasures inside. Since 1999 the owner of the shop has been collecting (and still does to this day) unique clothes from the past. If necessary, they will fix them with original repair parts. The second you cross the threshold, you will not be able to believe that all of these clothes are not new. Purple Cave is a good recommendation for any vintage-fan or for those of you, who want to buy designer clothing cheaper. This shop is the perfect place to lose track of time and get lost in clothes.

Of course, this article only represents a tiny range of everything the street has to offer. However, I think that thanks to the afore mentioned examples you can imagine the variety of different shops. From traditional ones to crazy fresh stores and international flair you can find everything on this street.
