Barabeske is a one-woman business, everything from design to production, sales, and marketing is all done by Barbara. And that's me! I'm currently 34 years old, a mother of two, married, and live in the idyllic town of Pyhra near St. Pölten in Lower Austria. My introduction to macramé, and especially Barabeske, had a rather difficult start. I actually learned the technique myself in September 2018, as I broke my ankle while heavily pregnant, had surgery, and had to spend the last two months before giving birth on the couch with my foot in a cast. This initial pastime became a passion and ultimately a vocation. The name "Barabeske," by the way, is a combination of Barbara and Arabesque (Italian: arabesco means "oriental" and is a ornament), and I think this description perfectly fits my style and the designs made from micro-macramé and dried flowers. In addition to design and aesthetics, I place great importance on sustainability and regionality. Flowers are preferably purchased from local farmers, wood comes from our own forest, and many products are created in collaboration with regional partners. All products, both jewelry and decorative items, are handcrafted with precision and dedication, which means custom orders are also possible upon request. ;)

This is your Story!
Not my first, but arguably my best designed product, are these flower earrings made from real dried flowers. Unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that combine nature and style.
You should definitely stop by one of Vienna's many design markets. Among them is the Edelstoff design market in the Marx Halle, which takes place four times a year and where you'll often find me. There you'll find select designer pieces, handicrafts, and many great souvenirs.
Barabeske stands for high-quality products, regional production, social values and sustainable thinking.
