Sailor Style in heirloom quality
Johanna Adlaoui-Mayerl established her costume design studio in the late 1990s. Having always had a love for fine, classic tailored pieces, she found a way to channel this into fashion for children.
In 2010 the first classic sailor suit was created and DER FESCHE FERDL, loosely translated as 'The handsome Freddie', was established. The timeless beauty of the pieces mixed with modern twists and the finest materials became instantly a favorite among lovers of exclusive fashion for children and since 2011, sailor suits are shipped from Vienna all over the world.
From the beginning, requests for variations on the classic designs were plentiful and today the Sailor Suit collection contains a big number of standard outfits as well as limited edition ones. The collection has expanded even further by also including charming designs for little ladies.
Our outfits are ideal for all special occasions. In any family celebrations, the little sailors could not go unnoticed. Our designs can serve younger and older sailors, from a few months up to ten years old. Each piece of our collection is unique, designed and manufactured in Vienna using top craftsmanship and attention to detail as well as the finest fabrics to be in contact with the child's sensitive skin.
In our showroom in Vienna's Neubau district, you'll also find the new FERDL sailor collection for adults: stylish sailor trousers, elegant dresses and casual sailor shirts.
